At the grocery store, I made it to the check out line and realized I hadn't gotten any oranges. Shane was with me and I had been craving them, and let's face it -- we all need Vitamin C right?
As the checker started checking my huge cart of groceries, I asked Shane to quickly run and get me a bag of oranges from the produce section. If he hurried, like I knew he could, he could make it back in time before the checker was done. Off he went.
I see Shane come bobbing back. He proudly hoists a bag of oranges on the checkout conveyor belt. What I had originally wanted was one of the small cello bags of oranges that are already made up so that he wouldn't have to hand-select them and put them in a produce bag. To my horror, what he brought bag was a HUGE bag of oranges in a paper bag complete with a handle and a $1.00 discount coupon for buying them in bulk.
I looked at his smiling face and as the checker hesitantly looked at me, I proudly paid $13.00 for a bag of oranges whose quantity I really didn't think I needed. It was time to tell him that's not what I had intended after all that trouble.
So, needless to say.. does anyone have any great winter recipes for oranges? :)
