Shane, being the resourceful 14 year old that he is, has been known to come home from school and make himself a little snack of sorts.
Today, it was macaroni and cheese. Being the wonderfully domesticated gourmet Mom that I am, I buy the Kraft or Velveeta in the box that just needs the noodles boiled, drained and cheese squeezed onto it to melt. Yeah, that's what I do -- so hush.
Anyway,...the following is our dialogue:
Me: Shane? What kind of cereal is that?
Shane: Oh, this isn't cereal. It's macaroni and cheese.
Me: Well, where did you get it?
Shane: I made it myself! (big grin)
Me: Uh huh... Well, WHY does it look like soup?
Shane: I think the instructions were wrong. I added the right amount of water but it was just too much.
Me: .....
Shane: (big grin while eating mac 'n cheese soup)
Me: Shane? You drained the noodles after you boiled them. Correct?
Shane: Umm, I think I missed that part...
Me: .....
How does the boy make it through the day at school?
And next time, here on Bunny Burrow, Shane will be demonstrating how to make Spaghetti and tomato sauce soup or perhaps Beef Stroganoff stew. There are probably lots more soup recipes out there I didn't know about! ;)
That's just too cute. And it looked like cereal? Mmmmmmm. Must be a guy thing, though they say that some of the best chefs in the world are men, go figure....
Must have missed that part? Sounds just like my son too, though he's only 11....
keep smilin'

LOL, I wonder how my own 11 year old would make it? I should put him to the test!

Yummy!! Reminds me of the time my daughter made a pancake in a pot. Yup, a pot. She thought she was bieng clever by mixing the batter in the pot and then cooking it. Yeah...that was the end of that pot. Sadly she was about 17 when she did it.

That is so like a boy that age! Now that I work at a school, I see tons of kids who, no matter how many times instructions are explained to them, they forget them.

[slurp-slurp]
You've gotta love it that he tried to make himself some food though, eh? And he ate it all I'm sure. Too cute!

I'll keep an eye out for his recipe book or appearance on the Food network.

Priceless - also reminds me of when Jeramy starting making Ramen Noodles - do you measure the water? hmmm, the noodles were hard to fish out.

Hey -- I went to the same culinary arts school. I couldn't boil my way out of a wet paper bag.
I can order a mean pizza, though. ;)
