HAYNES, JOHN D. "J.D." Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather went home to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Nov. 28, 2005, after a courageous battle with Melanoma. J.D. was born April 19, 1932, in Brashear, TX. He served in the military from 1953-1955. He joined the Dallas Fire Department as a Firefighter on May 1, 1955 at Station 41 on Preston and Royal Lane and retired after 33 years as a driver. He remained active in the Dallas Retired Firefighters Association and treasured the friendships of his Firefighter buddies. He also operated, 'Haynes Gulf' with his brother at the corner of Mockingbird and Skillman for 17 years. He was a devoted husband to Vera Haynes for over 53 years and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Casa View Baptist for over 33 years. John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alma Haynes, and his brother, Garlon Haynes. He is survived by his wife, Vera Haynes and four daughters.

Chana, I'm so sorry to here about your fathers passing. It is so not easy to accept when life takes this turn, after a brave battle with melanoma, he is in a better place now. God bless you and your family at this time. Hugs, Carol ( I came via Joe's blog )

Today is the anniversary of my father's death. I happened to run across your blog and having similar thoughts myself today, I read it with much interest.
Obituaries in the paper never tell much about who the person was. Thanks for telling more of the story and sharing your father with those of us who wander by here.

Chana, i am so so sorry. i am actually crying at hearing of your father's passing. i can feel your agony at losing someone who matters this much. my mother died in 1993 and i felt the pain you are feeling now. i wish there was something i could do to speed your healing. i am just so sorry you had to lose your dad. so very sorry.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad when I was in my early 20s and I understand your pain. I still write about him.

May God be with you in your time of need. I just went through this in May, and after the funeral I did OK until Thanksgiving. Since then I really miss him because we were always together for the holidays. Your blogbuddies are here for you if you need to talk. Take care.
