how sad it is to have to divvy up all your possessions that entail history and memories and place them into 'his' and mine piles. Just doesn't seem fair...

It is not fair. But worse than that is when you have to do it and then about 1 year later you go into that closet that you have been advoiding, and find everything that ment something to you a year ago.
In my case it was pictures. Happy times. And it was really hard to make new Mine and Hers piles.

Sorry! Been there....I had to come to the conclusion that "things" are just things. I will get more someday. Memories are not something you can split up unfortunately. Strong you WILL get over this hump.

well I'm new here...not sure how I even got here :)...but you seem like a really really nice person...hard to believe you'd have an "ex" - I've been there too...it gets better but it takes a while. Fortunately you have wonderful kids and pets :)
